TOURNAMENT TIPS
Once you have mastered the basics of chess, a good way to improve your game is by playing in CLUBS and Tournaments. Tournaments are run by arbiters or controllers. These officials are always ready to advice new players about the rules and regulations of chess. Remember, however, that it is against the rules to ask anyone for advice about which moves to play on the board when a game is in progress.

KEEPING SCORE SHEET
If you enter a tournament you will be expected to keep an accurate record of the moves of the game on a SCORE SHEET. This can be employed to verify the moves if a dispute arises. The score sheet is also a valuable personal record, which you can use to replay the game at your master to see where your moves could be improved.
